Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34

Ezekiel 22:29 – 30

29 The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.
30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

O Lord, turn and hear the voices of Your people.  For we are in distress and woe in this nation, and violence fills our streets.  Please help us to see and to turn back to You.   Please help us to not see Your deliverance as a last resort.  We cannot deliver this nation in our own strength.  Only you can deliver us.   Help us not to see returning to You as a last option, as a last-ditched defense, but rather as the immediate and only resolution to our national problems.  People will often seek to You when they’re back is against the wall with no other options.  But help us to make You our refuge now.  Help us to choose to dwell in Your secret place now.  Help us to see how greatly we need You.  Please revive us.  Please give us hunger for Your Word.  Please raise us up and give us boldness to stand in the gap for You.

In the name of your Son Jesus Christ I pray.  Amen
