The Christian life is an uphill battle; if we stop climbing or keep looking back down at our past, it will cause us to slip up and backslide. We must press on! The Christian life does not plateau out. There is no point in your Christian life where you stop advancing in your […]
Instruction In Righteousness: Content For Christians
There is more to Christian life than just salvation. The Bible says that the new Christian needs to desire the milk of the Word. “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:” (1 Peter 2:2). We must not remain babes in the faith, we must grow.
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: (Eph 2:14-15).
For this reason alone, we need to grow in the faith. Here, we present materials for those who are already Christians, to help them grow in the faith. Topics including worshiping God: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” (Matt 22:37), doctrine: “Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.” (1 Tim 4:13), service: “I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.”(Rev 2:19), holy living: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” (Rom 12:1), soulwinning: “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” (Prov 11:30), and standards and convictions: “One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.” (Rom 14:15)..
The Principles of the Doctrine of Christ
The Principles of the Doctrine of Christ are the very basic doctrines of the faith. These doctrines are, however, very important for all Christians to know. Hebrews Chapter 6 tells us that we need to know these in order to go on to perfection. And, unfortunately, some of these, especially baptisms (yes, it's plural), and laying on of hands, are either confused or even omitted by denominational "tradition." These articles are written for the new Christian to ground them in the faith, but also for those who do not have a full understanding of these doctrines. We need to learn the principles of the doctrine of Christ, so that we can go on to the more meaty doctrines and perfection.Hebrews 5 12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Ch 6 1 Therefore LEAVING the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5,6 Here is a command with a promise: “In ALL thy ways ACKNOWLEDGE him, and he shall direct thy paths.” If you ACKNOWLEDGE God in all areas […]
Scripture Memorization Helps Overcome Sin
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Ps. 119:11) Memorization is very important if you want to overcome sin and temptation. It is almost impossible to do this without memorizing Scripture. When you are tempted, you can overcome more easily if you quote Scripture out loud. The […]
Are Some Professing Christians Not Saved? Are you sure that you are destined for Heaven?
Many people, especially Americans, claim to be Christians, and believe that they are going to heaven. But they hold many diverse beliefs on how to get to heaven, and on who will go there. They also hold different beliefs about how a person should live after they are saved. Some believe that they can continue […]
