How to Get Saved

Jesus said, “Verily, verily [truly, truly], I say unto you; he that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”  John 6:47.

If you would like to be saved you must believe on Jesus Christ, and what He said:

“If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”   (John 8:31, 32.)

If you believe on Christ, you will have everlasting life.

If you would like to be saved, you first must recognize that you are a sinner and be willing to turn from your sins.   “For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God”  (Romans 3:23).

You must repent of your sins.   If you are not willing to repent, you cannot be saved.   The grace of God that brings the free gift of salvation teaches us to turn from our sinful ways and live in righteousness (Titus 2:11,12).   You must be willing to repent and believe on Christ, God will give you the power to overcome your sins and live righteously

Next, believe that Jesus’ death and resurrection was the propitiation (substitutional atonement) for your sins.   Jesus’ sacrifice is the ONLY thing that can take away your sins.   NO ONE and NOTHING besides Jesus can cleanse you of your sins.    “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”  (Romans 5:8).

Jesus Christ is the only one Who can save you.   No one else can save you.  “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved”  (Acts 4:12).   Mohammed didn’t die for your sins, and neither did Buddha.   Only Jesus did.   And NONE of these rose from the dead, only Jesus did.

You must also be willing to accept Christ as your LORD and SAVIOUR.    This means that you will obey Christ:   “If ye love me, keep my commandments”  – Jesus, (John 14:15).     Obeying Christ’s commandments is not grievous, and His law actually gives you freedom.

28   Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29   Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30   For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:28-30

If you are ready to accept Christ, pray to God, speaking in your own words, and ask Him to forgive your sins through His Son, Jesus Christ.

(I’m not going to give you a canned prayer.  Too many people are saying canned prayers without repentance, and not getting saved.  How do I know this?  Because I have been there.

The words need to come from your contrite, repentant heart.)

If you have sincerely said this prayer, you are now saved.    Please see our Believers Section and Prinicples of Doctrine of Christ series to learn how to grow in the faith.

If you have not chosen to receive Christ at this time, I beg you to reconsider.   Don’t say “I will wait till I’m on my deathbed.”   You could die tonight; you do not know what the future holds.  Now is the time of salvation.   You cannot choose Christ after you die.   Seriously consider your decision.
