Fornication

Fornication is the act of sexual intercourse outside of marriage. Adultery is a form of fornication, because it is outside of marriage, but worse, because there is a third person involved. The word “fornication” is better than “sexual immoralty” found in most modern Bible versions. Morality and immorality are relative terms. You may believe that “sexual immorality” refers to intercourse outside of marriage, but someone else may believe otherwise. Some may take “sexual immorality” and interpret it according to their own morality, and say, “This is moral for me because I believe it to be so.” Maybe to them having multiple partners at once is immoral, but only one at a time is okay. On the other hand, “fornication” is an absolute term, there is no fogginess to what it means. No one reading the Bible could interpret it any other way. Sexual relations was made by God for marriage. And having intercourse before marriage (fornication) is a sin.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10
9. Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10. Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 6:18.
Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

1 Corinthians 7:2.
Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
(People should get married so they won’t fornicate. Thus, fornication is intercourse outside of marriage.)

Matthew 15:19.
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

1 Corinthians 10:8.
Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
(God judged Israel’s fornication by allowing 23,000 of them to be slain in battle.)

Ephesians 5:3.
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

Colossians 3:5.
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

1 Thessalonians 4:3.
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

 

The Word of God, the Holy Bible, declares fornication to be sin. However, just like any other sin, God is willing to forgive you. We are all sinners, we have all violated God’s law, myself included. “There is none righteous, no, not one.” Romans 3:10.
